5. Conclusions Due to the intermittent power generation of distributed PV systems and the spatiotemporal uncertainty of uncontrolled EV charging, the accelerating grid penetration of EVs and PVs brings in severe voltage deviations and voltage fluctuations.
The rapid growth of the PV generation will have a big impact on voltage regulation in distribution networks, especially at lower voltage levels due to more significant intermittent irradiance effects.
A PV system operates at a sub-optimal power level instead of at its peak power. Part of the PV electricity can be saved for smooth output power. However, the APC mechanism controls only RR up, not RR down. According to the literature above, achieving optimal and accurate smoothing is the most important factor in managing PV power fluctuations.
The output power fluctuations of a PV plant are influenced by the movement of clouds. The larger the size of the PV plant, the lower the output power fluctuations. Shorter the sampling time, the more significant the smoothing effect.
In this paper, minimising the deviation voltage fluctuations, between the minimum and maximum limits, aims to preserve the voltage profile within the voltage boundaries and therefore to enhance the system voltage characteristics with controlling the penetration level of renewable sources.
There is more fluctuation value of power factor (PF) which is caused by higher penetration of rooftop PV. The installation of the PV generation close to the transformer gives better voltage fluctuation. Published in: 2019 International Conference on Technologies and Policies in Electric Power & Energy
