Remove the mat on the passenger side, remove the cover placed in the lower part of the dashboard (right side under the glove box). We remove the cover cap that covers the auxiliary battery. We disassemble the locking pins of the battery terminals, then, remove it from its housing. Let's replace it with a new one (same voltage).
First of all we go to identify the auxiliary battery, which we find on the floor of the front passenger side; then let's disassemble and remove the carpet, in order to access the battery, as shown in the video.
Let's briefly go over the main instructions that will allow us to disassemble and replace the auxiliary battery of the Mercedes Classe A. First of all, we get into the car, front passenger side, and start by removing the floor mat to access the battery compartment, which we find underneath it, as shown in the video.
The auxiliary battery on these vehicles is isolated from the vehicle’s main electrical system to prevent the primary battery from being drained. However, when the engine is started, a solenoid will close, and the auxiliary battery will be charged as the vehicle is driven.
The worst thing that could happen is that you won’t be able to use the electrical components that get voltage from the auxiliary battery. Some of these parts include the lights, audio system, and start/stop feature (if applicable), among others.
The auxiliary battery is typically a secondary battery that keeps certain electrical systems running even when the engine is off. Vans and pickups built with a camper package will have an auxiliary battery to power the lights in the camper.
