To explore the advantages of emerging semitransparent polymer solar cells (ST-PSCs), growing efforts have been devoted to developing multifunctional ST-PSCs for power-generation and heat-insulation applications. In this work, three groups of ST-PSCs are fabricated on the basis of fullerene and nonfullerene systems.
The recent surge in solar energy utilization to achieve net-zero carbon emissions has amplified the demands for the development of flexible and lightweight photovoltaics (PVs) that can be installed in locations where traditional silicon-based solar cells are impractical, such as curved surfaces or in areas with limited weight-bearing capacity.
Rigid and flexible PSCs attained high PCEs of 17.4% and 15.7% under 1 sun, respectively. Based on electrode modulations, optimized ST-PSCs showed simultaneously high PCEs of 12.7% and VLT of > 20%, leading to well-balanced solar power generation, transparency and color-neutrality.
