As a general rule, Banner recommends an operating temperature of max. -40 to +55 degrees Celsius; optimum storage conditions are approx. +25 to +27 degrees Celsius. These criteria apply to all lead-acid batteries and are valid for conventional, EFB, AGM and GEL technology.
It is a matter of concern when electrolyte temperature increases above 25-27 ⁰ C to 35⁰ C and above. The charging voltage should be set at a lower value i.e reduce charging voltage by 3 mV for every increase of 1⁰ C rise above 27 ⁰ C. Otherwise, the life of the battery will be reduced due to higher gassing and grid corrosion.
